It's alive. :elmo

Induction needs shortening so that I can run it for the time being while a suitable one is made. Few bits here and there left to do as you can see, but it fired up today for the first time. Though there may be an injector problem as it sounds like it misfires. Hopefully have more of an idea by the end of the week.

Sorted the 'miss'. I realised today that I hadn't plugged the MAP sensor in

Just went out and plugged it in. Tried again and it now holds a steady idle and has become infinitely more responsive/alive.

Need to reshim though as the clearances are far too large by the sounds of things. Need to get that sorted before it can be driven over to the rolling road for mapping.

I have not been on here for ages but came across this awesome project - nice one. I may have to come to Ace again soon, just have not had the time more recently. Would certainly appreciate a look at this an awful lot of hard work has paid off.

I notice the engine is a very similar spec to mine with the additions of larger pistons and reground cam - should go like a little rocket. Whatever, nice work. Just reading it makes me want to start a new project with the Sei but, unfortunately most of my time is taken up with starting a new project on the Alfa.

What kind of power are you expecting from the r/r session? I would not be surprised if you are around the 90-100bhp mark. You also have the advantage of an engine which makes it's torque lower down - I do find the 16v very peaky which is great when you want a thrash but not so good for cruising. I think your engine should be a nice compromise.

Hehe cheers guys!

You have a 147 GTA now don't you James?

Haven't got a clue power wise I'm afraid, though it would be nice to be up there! There is a tophat shim dancing around somewhere as it is so loud from the top end. There is oil present and clearances are actually slightly smaller than standard. Peter has had a look and we'll be trying a few things to track down the cause.

You're right about the torque. Drove it for the first time to the petrol station yesterday and from just driving it normally I can already tell a massive difference in power from low revs, though Peter reckoned it felt tamer than it should. I'm happy though as the old 1.1 was just comically gutless in comparison until it reached around 4k.

Can't wait for these little problems to be ironed out.

Bit of good news

Got the confirmation letter from my solicitor informing me that he has received a cheque for the full amount of my repairs from the other party's insurance. Looking forward to claiming my NCB back now

On the car front, I think (hope) the loud top end noise was incorrect diameter top hat shims. I pick up correct size shims on Saturday and hopefully it'll then be all sorted and dandy for the rolling road.
