Firstly Well Done Fifi!

This was the result of an avg run from Fifi's first mapping session yesterday. The results speak for themselves I was extremely happy with them.

The "hesitation" has all but gone, this turned out to be partly due to an air leak in the cam housing (where the engine cover should have been were two plug holes which were not plugged). After plugging these this eliminated most of the hesitation.

The new map is currently learning but Jason assures me it will only get better with time. Baring in mind I have not shelled out Huh?? for custom ecu's!

I have only had three weeks with the engine so far and there is still a lot of bits and bobs to do.

I discovered I have a blowing exhuast

The exhaust bore is completely wrong for a 16v, it is only running standard 1108 pipework for a section after the manifold! This will be sorted along with s/s manifold when I recieve my student loan!

The engine is only 4k old, so running in is still in progress

There are a load of other bits to do but, for now i'm very happy indeed!

To the 'clever' person who edited my posts regarding the ECU costs some time ago - I would like to clear some things up. You may see that ££££ has been replaced with :( in the posts. The person in question does not appreciate anyone who does not follow 'his' way of doing things.

Originally I paid £450 to chipped UK for two full day mapping sessions back in early 2007 - these proved evetually not to have the desired results so as a goodwill gesture Jayson refunded me the full amount of money as the job was too 'bespoke' to be realistic.

I then went to Red Dot where a proper map was sorted for £150 (CPH mates rates!) for three days on the rollers. The car was flawless since.

So all in all that is £150 to have a 16v MPI running on the original factory ECU. This did a perfect job and to anybody who disagrees with this did you ever go in my car??

The ECU then did the classic IAW 59F 'corruption' trick where one set of coil drivers spiked and subsequently failed.

As a result I have now fitted a 16v Punto ECU in the mix (cost me £50 inc. wiring/solder etc). Car runs perfectly. Fitted myself.

Total cost £200.

Custom ECU route - Megasquirt difficult to get set up on local rollers (my locals will not deal with it) - requires decent electronic knowlege. Therefore cheaper £300+ but not viable.

DTA/Emerald - Require at least a day with a qualified technician on rolling road, initial cost (unless in the Trade). The Emerald K3 is over the £600 mark RRP - also I had no one local who would set it up for me - they would only deal with DTA/Omex. + Adaptors + R/R + Wiring (Unless on mates rates heading towards £800 + mapping for the avg person without discount).

I was given a quote for a DTA S40 at a local tuner which included in a days mapping, all looms and ready to roll for £1050.

So I DO believe I have saved myself (even over the mates rates people) £500 minimum - £1000 dependant on tuning co/ecu system utilised.

I will get the Seicento mapped on the 16v ECU (for mates rates at RD) and update progress on here soon  elf haha.

Many Thanks
