They have used the wrong jaws when taking off the tyres.. Alloys you should use the jaws that clamp around the tyre bead.. Thats a simple error by the tyre fitter.. Must be a trainee

Hi Guys & Girls,
Well a little update
So the last inline pump i fitted to the fuel system was not up to the job!my fault! so it was getting starved of fuel as it was only running at 0.5bar 7psi no biggy i have learned the hard way again lol!!,the pump and 8mm fittings cost £30 so my wallet is a little lighter but i will live,
So i needed to find a pump to run the cars low pressure fuel system running at 1bar 14psi so i took a leep and bought a Welbro low pressure turbo pump running at 3bar 42psi last week knowing all my new copper and rubber fuel lines and fittings would be more than up to the job,
So i bought it and did the pump change over and tested the car to find it was all running well this time for sure when idling from cold at about 1000 rpm then correcting itself when warm then running on idle at about 800 rpm,its also reving on the button where as before it was spluttering but not this time it will now be getting to much fuel but with it being a low pressure pump the fuel regulator seems to be regulating it as normal and what fuel isn't being used is getting returned through the fuel return pipe i fitted back to the tank where as before it wasn't as there was not enough fuel being delivered to start with lol,i also checked for leaks but iam pleased to say it all dry
Welbro Low Pressure Turbo Pump
After it was fitted
I still need a mounting bracket for it but a good friend is moulding one for me so as soon as its ready i will have it fitted to secure it to the body,
Here is a little video nothing much but just to show all is well,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frC-Pb5MQq8
I also bought another 4 tyre wheel valves as the others i bought were not up to much they only had about 3 threads on the nut holding it in place so i bought a set of these off fullpint,
Well i haven't got the wheels repaired i will just live with them as iam planning on changing them later next year all going well? but i did get to the bottom of who did it at the tyre depot and got something sorted out followed by an apology,so when i was there i got the Toyo R888 fitted with the new valves so all going well i can get it back down on its paws for a while

Neat job. I may have missed it, but why not use the original fuel pump?
I'm no scrutineer, but I'm frightened by the idea of fuel lines inside the car (or is a bulkhead to come later?) without safe break connections and not in braided stainless. For why, just watch any of the clips on uTube of the Henri Toivonen/Sergio Cresto accident. It's not for the squeamish.
But I'm not putting the project down, just a safety concern.

Hi fingers99,
The Reason the stock pump was not used was because it was an in-tank pump which i no longer have and would not have worked with the above tank so had to use an in-line pump instead,
I may still use braided lines? but the original braided line i used was a bloody nightmare to use as it was not the flexible so opted for the rubber in the end but i may still use braided lines? but iam happy as iam at the minute, the fuel connections iam using iam happy with as there is no great pressure involved like on some modern cars, lets not compair my Cento to a rear engined rear ended fuel tank 037 setup although you never know what accidents are round the corner
,my fuel tank is in the rear and the engine is in the front but i guess its like any motorsport it comes with a warning on the tin,the fuel system is finished, but seeing as you have brought it up and seeing i only tell members what iam doing until i have done it there is a bulk head yet to come but iam still working that over in my head but things are on hold now until after the new year then i can get back to it,hope that answers you questions?,
Cheers Scuderia

Hi fingers,i ment to say when i was talking about compairing my Fiat to a 037 that the reason that Henri's cars exploded on impact was because the S4's main fuel tank wasn't big enough to allow the car to finish the long stages in Corsica so Lancia (in their usual way) bodged up some extra fuel tanks which they saw fit to place under the seats!.The car was basically a bomb waiting to go off, unfortunately Henri and Sergio found out when the car left the road and hit a tree at massive speed. The impact would probably have killed them anyway in all honesty, but the car was instantly engulfed in flames leaving them with no chance. It was an horrendous accident, iam not way saying this would not happen to me but it could happen to anyone going into Motorsport hence way i said before it comes with a warning

Certainly has, no doubts about that.
But I wonder if the result would have been so bad if foam filled (or bag) tanks with safety breaks had been used. I hope they were unconscious at the time, but the spaceframe doesn't look that distorted.
We'll almost certainly never know what happened.

Its was Crazy and doesn't bear thinking about does it
Well i have had time to have a think about this and i have opted not to fit a liquid tight fire wall as there is to much work involved so have decided not to,there are many other hatch backs in the world of motor sport doing as i have done and like i said before it comes with a warning but safety must come first and i have learned the hard way but as the old saying goes you live and learn, iam no way perfect and don't pretend to know all so iam happy to live and learn,so i popped off and had a word with my local motor sport club and this is what iam doing,
What i have done is i have made the decision to change the Fuel tank and use the braided fuel lines i have already got but never used??so if i was to ever get the car scruttineered the rubber pipes would be no good so why i went ahead and used them i will never know, the clips are OK as my fuel system runs at low pressure so they are good to stay as well as the copper line i have used from the engine bay to the rear,so if and when i get it scruttineered i will stand a better chance and if i don't pass i can always change things if needs must,
The new fuel tank is a little bigger and stronger and safer than the one that is fitted, this one is foam filled to help with internal safety, foam reduces fuel slosh, aids fuel pickup and suppresses explosions
,it is also swagged making it much stronger on the large flat faced surfaces where the other was not,
I also intend to fabricate a stand for it to sit on between a layer of rubber so if i do get rear ended and the floor does fold up the tank will stand a better chance of surviving and so do it,there is a cage to be fitted yet but thats been put back as money is tight so that will come in the new year at the end of January and when thats put in by rights that will protect the tank even more,
Here are some pics of the new tank nothing special but better than the last thats for sure,
I also got another sticker from a friend
what iam i like lol?i can't get enough of them,
More to follow in the weeks to come,
Oh i forgot to say i have started to collect some spare parts so when i need them i will have them to hand,i think i have already got a new clutch cable so its all coming together,i also got some Mintex sticker
What another sticker lol
Cheers Donald
