Cheers Charlie, you might want to bring along some ear plugs as it does get rather loud in there on long trips.

Ok, now I am totally confused! here are some engine numbers for punto 55/60/75
Punto 60, up to 1997: 176.B1.000 (SPI)
Punto 60, from 1997 : 176.B4.000 (SPI)
Punto 75, all years : 176.A8.000 (MPI)
Punto 55 1108cc engine up to 1997: 176.A6.000 (SPI)
Punto 55 from 1997 / all Cento 1108 SPI: 176.B2.000 (SPI)

THe number that I have on my 1242 is none of the punto 60 or 75 numbers, mine reads 46431614!

what on earth is this engine out of? It has a 866 cam as standard all the usual 1242 tell tales signs that says it is a 1242 engine, so how can I tell what type it is?

I think the number on the engine refers to internal Fiat part numbers, i.e. thats what you would put into EPER for just an engine block, the other numbers are what the engine is known as as a whole complete engine. you will see other similar numbers on the cylider head and rocker covers etc

I also think your roll-cage is an OMP item and not Sparco unless it is an old Sparco because the way the cage fits in the car is identical to how the OMP cage fits. If you look at Nitrane's site you will see yours looks the same.

Whereas if you look at my updates on our car, the Sparco cage is very different in that it has 2 rear cross bars, the cage bolts to the upper floor section where the back seats are, not the floor behind the front seats like yours does, and has a much bigger footprint at the front box sections.

Still project is looking great.

Hi Evo and  for your comments, I think you are right it is a OMP cage and not a Sparco which is a bit of a bugger but still better than having nothing lol .
My new streering wheel has arrived and my new Sparco seat mounts have arrived but with no bolts! How does that work? its like like buying an airfix kit and comes without the glue. Now do I need to use nylock nuts and bolts to assemble these mounts? Any help would be groovie  :winner
