Well before it goes in it's gonna be all broken down and cleaned up so that I have a bit of peace of mind knowing that it's ok. I think that's the best way forward.

Well I thought I would break down my 1242 ready for Paul to work his magic on it and found the block to be in a bad state of repair!   I tried to turn the crank to set it to top dead centre and it didn't want to budge. I was hoping it had not seized but after I had taken off the head it looked as though it had. Piston 1 is stuck with loads of hardened oil and muck the liners have patches surface rust valves 1 and 2 are also caked in thick carbon and oil. I know that the engine had been left standing for some time and this is the result. But I have bought another one off Fiat forum which comes with everything so I aim to pick that up at the weekend, I figured it would cost as much to replace the other bits for the other engine so I bought this instead.

Well the weekend went well picking up all my bits from the guy on FF, I paid £300 and I got a complete 1242 with everything still attached and I mean every thing , gearbox, alternator, starter motor inlet manifold and even the whole wiring loom. A set of 5 Alfa Sud ltd ed compo 13 inch alloys with 165/55R13 Perrelli tyres all in good nik, and a set of rear limo black rear windows AND   a rear defuser. The best £300 I have spent in a long time   can't wait to get the engine put in the car in August
