WHAAAYY!! Got myself a new car for the time being until I get one that is more suitable.

Its a 1991 white Rover Metro L 1.1
5 doors, 34,000 miles from new!!! Rarely used so the interior is pristene. But of rust on the rear wheel arches, but its a metro!! So I will need to sort that out.
The best bit about it is it has a 4 speed gear box and manual choke, so all my mates are like well confused about that!!

Oh, and I want to know what the caravan light is for on the dash board?? Is it to let you know you are towing something???!?!?!

I will get some pictures up when I have the chance to clean it properly, it is just a tad dirty.

But future plans are eith one of the following:
1) Concorse - which I think is a tad boring. But the car will suit this very much

or

2) Get some police stickers and some of that chevron stuff and turn it into a panda car!!!!!!!  (but need to look into this if it is legal or not)

We have a fibreglass 6R4 shell, front and doors sat in the garage already........ Only cost £300 for the lot!

I have found some pics of police metros, and they are wicked! And one caption says "the wheel trims were removed incase they flew off and caused damage in high speed car chases"

I did want a horriffic colour, but white is all that I could find.

The police may have to resort back to using metros at the rate this resetion is going  but nice one Kit in getting one. The rear arches were always their weak spot. As for doing it up as a panda car, not sure you will get away with that. When I used to work in a mobile dog unit in my last job the boss did our dog vans out with a black and white chequer chevron strip that ran along the bottom sill line. We were told by him that you are not allowed to have it running along door handle height, weather that is true or not is another matter. Any usage of blue flashing lights is a no no and no wording of police is allowed either. Hope this helps mate.

NOOO!!!!  I knew I wouldn't be alowed a flashing light, but I wasn't too sure on the wording and the day-glow stripes and that. But thanks for that advice. I just had a sneak feeling that it would be more leaniant as I would do it in the older style of police cars and not the new yellow and blue suqares.

The first thinbg my step-dad said was "How much rust has it got?" as he just knew it would have some! But it is only on the edge of the arch so it isn't much. Easily doable in my opinion. But it would need painting properly which is no issue, just take it home and use the spay machine there.

Got some pictures now:

The car:

The rust on the rear arches:

It looks as if someone has made an effort to "touch" up the rust with a bad match of paint! SO it is going to be a bigger job than originally planned. And the muppett has got white spray off the sills so I will have to repaint those black.

The interior:

And the light on the dash which I am VERY concerned about:

But why put a towing light on a Metro?!?!! The trailer would be bigger and heavier than the car itself!!

This is Austin Rover (or BLMC) we are talking about.I think the parts bin of the production line must have been marked up as 'All models'..

And another quirky thing about the car is that the steering column and seat aren't aligned! So you have to drive on the angle!
