Nice work on the car mate.

But am not sure why you are putting in the 1108? For the same effort you could put the 1242 in it.

Also do you have the following parts:

Cinq spoting drive shaft.
Cinq sporting engine mount plates that bolts onto the chassis.  You need the driver side plates and passenegr side plates.
I see you got the ECU with the mckitch chip, does the chip remove the immobiliser completely?

You going to keep the cannister? If you do, you also need one from a sporting.

also you got a sporting gearbox, speedo cable, clutch cable and accelator cable?

I have documented this on fiat scotland if you want to have a look.

Hi Ming

Yeah I have got all the parts there for him the only thing I don't know about is if the ecu has had  the immobiliser removed completely! Most of the parts he got off me were from my red and blue cinq, He wants a 1108 instead of a 1242 due to his age and his insurance group would throw the book at him for a 1242, and also because his 899 is on it's last legs.

Fair enough.

IS easy to test it, plug the ecu in your cinq and see if it works :).

Yeah that's pretty much the reason i put a 1242 in mine, because the 899 engine died. .

and do i need to get speedo cable, clutch cable and accelerator cable or can i use the 899 ones?

bit worrying as iv already spent loads on parts ill see how much i can get these parts frm off ebay hopefully not too much.

Tbh, i just found a guy breaking a cinq sporting on ebay and told him the whole list.

Those plates is where the engine bolts on to.  I found when i used the cinq plate (espcially the driver side, next to the camm pulley).  The engine doesn't sit right and is not as strong as the cinq sporting one.  So definitely recommended.  You might get away with useing the 899 plate on the front of the car, but i would get it from the sporting if you can.

You will definitely need those cables from a sporting, as they are length is different.  Remember the 899 engine is different way round.

don't worry about the price, you got all the expensive parts already.  You might want to think about tigerseal all the negine mounts to get some poly inserts.

hi peeps got som good news and som bad news, after spending a tiring 2 days this weekend on the cinq got to the point wher the car was ready for the big start. thankfully after a bit of tweeking it finally coughed and started that was the good news of the day.      :goodjob

then came the bad news :(

at first the car was spluttering alot and smoking which didnt look good so our thoughts turnt to the bodged lamda sensor as the loom i got off charlie which he got off som1 else had been very bodgely dismantled were he cut off the lambda sensor connector blocks for some reason?Huh?? which left spliced wires. we changed the timing on the cambelt to see if that coukd be causing it but didnt really make a difference.

didnt work out why it was doing it but moved on anyway then a even more annoying problem turned up when we went to move the car it wasnt selecting gears properly? at first it wouldnt select reverse gear and wen u did put it into reverse it went foward which was quite funny at first. (then became not funny wen we couldnt work out why) we had a look at the gear linkage cables becuase the gear selector was really wobbly wen it was suppose to be in gear? the range of movement was ridicilous.

one of the gear linkage cables connects to the front of the gear box on a sliding mechansim that goes up and down. i think its called the reverse gear inhibitor cable god knows wat that means or wat it does but when we playing around with the positioning and the height at which this cable was connected we started to get some strange results. for instance somtimes u wouldnt be able to select any gears at all, then you may be able to select reverse, 5th and 4th. then you could only get 1st 2nd and 3rd. has anyone ever recnnected a sporting gear linkage and maybe know why its onyl selecting certain gears? really annoying becuase i need to move the car out of the drivecos my dad needs to get his bike out. apart from the that i suspose the day was a slight success as the last start up absolutely nothing worked on the car lol.

any help would be great cheers floody

I can understand that it is, set back after set back, hey maybe we get the aa guy down to fix the clutch problem and anything else outstanding then he can write the ok for it, wish it was that simple. The law must have changed as it never was like that.  help if anyone knows of clutch linkage problems.

Dude congrats getting the car going.

Guess what problem i have with my car after fitting that old 1242! No reverse or 5th gear!!!!

Iv been driving about to work and stuff in 4th all the time!!! DOH

The gear stick wont go anywhere near where 1st and 2nd should be, 1st and second are where 3rd and 4th should be and 3rd and 4th are where 5th and revese should be!!! im just pushing the car in and out of parking spaces at the mo... ould be better. Oh and i ruined the speedo cable too so no speedo for now either. but its FAST! haha

Iv tried messing about with everything but i have left the revers inhibitor alone so far. Im stumped for now!

Bad luck about the inspection. I guess they have had too many complaints about dodgy modded cinqs Wink haha or it could be a random check or something... Itl be worth it in the end
