cheers sandy its defonitely been a tough few months survivng without a car especially the money iv thrown at it. come very close a few times to scrappn the car but my dad wouldnt let me lol. glad tht its done and dusted and hopefully i dont hav any problems with the car in the future. however it is a fiat so........... it probaly will. cheers everyone for advice and help along the way. also big thanks to charlie who has also had to put up with me along the way haha

hi peeps need help with insurance??? i cant find insurance that insure cars with engine replacments so far i tried go compare but admiral dnt insure cars that have increased in 11% bhp increase which i thought was a load of bull. then i tried peformance direct who say that they specialise in modded cars came back with £10000 who then transferred me to some other specialised company where the lady put her phone down on me and told me to try compare websites which is when i nearly lost my temper with her. i havnt treid adrian flux as of yey but i will tommorrow any1 done a engine change and insured with them??? is so how much and are thery understandable  compared to other insurers cheers.

good news peeps after a very nervous few days im finally insured and the cinq is on the road. basically due to my age and havn only 1 yr no claims no company would come even close to insuring me with a cinq that has had a engine conversion. but luckily after being transferred to a private company called Zenif they insured me third party fire and theft. but i defonitely payed the price literally. i had no other options and i had thought about buying a new car i thought stuff it and i am nowing paying monthly. they hav included my mods in the policy including the engine swap which is good. took the car for a small test run but the weather was crappy so i came back as my tires were very flat. gears arnt as smooth as i expected but they do work which is good. the gsr induction sounds nice aswell defonitely turns heads now lol. going to take it slow and run everything in before i strt seeing wat it is capable of.

cant thank charlie  enough for all the hard work and his parts that enabled us to compltely rebuild my little beasty and also my old man who put it alot of effort to get it back on the road. it took around 6 months for the engine conversion which in my opinion is way to long for me not to have a car on the road missed it so much lol.

great news joe, mind you it does take time to get it right and how you want it but at the end of it the reward is great. You shud always check ur tyres too hehe before you drive off. Defo charlie helped ya loads bless him. Enjoy your ride.

Just an idea here - Would it be possible to change the car on the V5 to a sporting and therefore avoid the requirement to declare the engine swap??? I dont know if you can do this? and it may possibly invite further inspections? Just an idea? I think you know more about it than me though...

Mods are gonna add to the insurance anyhow so it might not make that much difference anyway.

not sure but i dont think you can change the base model, but in theory if you change the engine on the log book and put it through an inspection so you have a certificate it should make it a lot easier to insure as you have proof that it is safe and done properly

to answer ur question purf its a no. funny u bring it up as one of the insurance companies sed he would try another company over the phone and say its a sporting but as soon as u giv them the reg it comes up with 899 even though i went through great trouble with dvla getting it changed to 1108cc it didnt count for jack s****. just took the car out 4 a bigger run around 15 miles i think and its starting to run a bit smoother. 4th gear is a bit sticky at the moment but it will settle down with more miles.

and  yep purf hope to make it to the meet next week as long as the car is all ok. where is the meet as none has confirmed the place yet? cheers every1

I have heard tales of people back in the 70's changing plates on cars but thats pretty naughty  .... but whats the difference when you could see it as a re-shell. I think the dvla regulations on percentage or original parts etc comes in - but look at what people do to land rovers as an example. People repace the chassis, most of the body work, engine, suspension, make hybrids etc and there is very little of the original car left. People also used to change the vin plate and identity from an older vehicle to a newer one to gain tax free status. Again very naughty!!!

The reason you cant see it as a re shell is that's what a re shell is, just a new body shell and you use the all the parts from the original donor car including all ID plates so you cant disguise it, that's what we did when I worked at a FORD dealership if a car was in a accident and was badly damaged and was say only a month  old the insurance companies sometimes said re shell it

exactly m8 exactly the same problem i had with insurance companies they didnt want to know as soon as i said engine transferred even though the engine that was in my car was a standard fiat engine  but finally sorted out horrrayyyyyyyyyyy.
