I aint admiting nuffin no f***ing comment

On the gear stick the rod that connects to the ball join of the selector of the gearbox is there a clip to hold it on cos my rod keeps falling off when I go in to reverse or in to 5th gear I have managed to hold it in place with a cable tie at the mo and seems to be working OK but I don't know how long for, any advice cheers

it could be the Gear Selector Lever Bushes need replacing, i could only find a panda diagram but apparently it only takes an hour to do and it's not a difficult job.

it may help. they are i think the same as the punto.



or it could be the linkage.
to check: take off the bottom gaiter (its plastic/leather effect) and it just lifts out if you bend the sides in gently (dependant if its SX and higher from a certain age they have the centre console and that is a little different). Have a look at the linkages and see if they are broken or damaged. Also the age of box, they're known for being a a pain, so it could be the synchrocones gone inside the gearbox.

Thanks Sandy, it looks like the bushes that are goosed now I ve looked at the diagram thanks again mate that diagram is perfect
  so far my bodge job of holding it in place with a large cable tie is working  so far so I 'm still mobile
