Anyone have any idea if the 899cc version of the cinqs have the white speedo block of cablees that connect to the back of the speedo which allows the rev meter to work. Im looking to convert my car later on in the year but with a new engine it will need to have the sporting cinq clocks as the 899 doesnt hav a rev counter. If it cant be done then it looks like we might have to get the wiring out of a sporting and connect it up that way. Please Helpppp!!!!

best way i would think is take the wiring from the sporting. prob easiest and cheapest way of sorting it. i havent done it b4 but i would go this route.

Yh we thought we might have to do that charley is currently taking his amola blue cinq apart and is trying to save me the wiring loom. Thought id check if the sporting clocks first would slot straight in to my 899 cinq before we started to take wiring out of his car haha. on the sporting cinqs the wiring has a white block that plugs into what looks like the rev counter and because the 899 cinqs dont hav rev counters we were wondering if the white block was put into my car but never connected as their is no need for it.

Don't know if am too late to reply, but i put a 1242 in a 899.  Just use existing loom all the connector is on there.  And you can just add a wire to purple black wire near the ECU.  (this is documented on FF look at the guide section).  Here is just a list what you need to change:

    * 1108/1242 engine and gearbox + all engine mounts

    * Exhaust system from the sporting

    * Gear linkage from sporting

    * Thermostat from sporting

    * Starter/alternator from the sporting (1108)

    * Header Tank from sporting,

    * All Radiator hoses

    * Drive shaft from the sporting

    * Cannister from sporting

    * dial clocks from sporting (add a wire for rev counter)

    * speedo cable/ clutch cable from sporting

    * 15mm spacers for the exhaust mani.  (taller engine)

This is the list i made up for the 899 to 1242.

You don't need the sporting loom, that just complicates thing :).  Just extend the 899 loom to fit the engine :D

Thanks

For the speedo (to get the rev counter working) you only need to solder a wire to the clock which T into a wire near the ECU (read the FF guide).

Everything else works, the plugs is the same for the 899 clock and sporting clock.  Providing you already have a temp sensor on the clock?

yh ther is a temp gage on the 899 clocks but wouldnt it be simplier just to change the whole loom so the car is a complete 1108 instead of having 899 and 1008 parts?

No, is much easier to just use the 899 loom.

If you want to use the whole sporting loom, you need to rip the dash out replace both in-car loom and engine loom.  It is doable, but by no means "easier"
