Petrov put it in the wall without even completing one lap. It had been raining earlier with more rain forecast - they all went early and standing water on the kerbs was the cause really. Red flagged the session though and those with lap times were then looking good for Q2. Result was Glock and Kovaleinen were out agin in Q2.

I know its caused by his antics in Hungary, but Schuey is out qualifued by 2 x HRTs a Lotus and a Virgin. Oh how the mighty fall.

Spa is always a good race. This one won't be any different.

In brief:

Webber bogged down on the start and Hamilton was away. Button jumped up and Kubica did his best to mix it too - other than that pretty well all got through La Source in one piece.

Couple of laps in and there was a drop of rain around the bus stop chicane. The leaders all got a bit caught out and ran wide, Barri (on hard tyres) couldn't stop and walloped Alonso removing the front axle from the Williams. Amazingly Alonso drove away and ran most of the race until losing it in the drizzle later on.
So, safety car out and they all bunch up. Restart and Hamilton again drove away. So the race looked like a game of holding on and timing tyre stops to meet the predicted rain....only it didn't. not for a while anyway. kubica 2nd, webber, button, vettel. Button nursing some nose damage dropped off the pace. Cue Vettel showing his impatience, outbraked himself into the bus stop, narrowly missed the back of Button but lost control ans snapped the nose of the red bull into Jenson's left sidepod. ouch. Button was out, but Vettel recovered to the pits, new nose and drove on. end of drama? not likely - its Spa. So towards the end the rain started again. Drizzle at first. Hamilton was radioed to stay out until inters were needed. hmmm when he went horribly straight on at the hairpin over the gravel, it all looked over - he recovered after a sight glance off the tyre wall and regained the track ahead of Kubica. They all went for tyres. No great gains, but Kubica overshot his mark while setting the steering wheel to wet mode. Redbull were faultless with Mark and Kubica lost a place. Time to cruise to the line then. well not quite. Vettel overttok Liuzzi, ran a little wide up the inside and snagged his left rear on the Force India wing. Punctured left rear and a long drive back for a fresh tyre. Alonso then prompted another safety car in the rain dropping the Ferrari over the wet curbs and ending his race 90° across the track. And that was that.
