please make sense of this darn wheel issue

:soz
hey guys, sorry for yet another wheel query i have a 899cc sx Cinquecento that i want alloys on, problem is ive been reading through the wheel threads and im having trouble working out the offsets . so here are the 3 questions i need help with.
1. i want to fit a set of 14's off say a punto or other fiat. am i right to assume if the 14 inch wheels have an offset of et34 they will bolt staight on the back, but will need 6mm spacers on the front to correct the offset?
2. i figure i would need longer bolts for the front to go through the spacers, is it easier to get them from fiat or do other model fiats come with longer bolts?
3. what tyre size is best to avoid issues, was thinking 185/50/14 or 185/55/14
once again sorry for the wheel thread, i know there are countless threads about them but i just can't wrap my thick skull round it lol

the PCD can only be 98 or 100. thats it nothing else.
when fitting spacers over 5mm its really better to fit hubcentric ones.
if you use wider than standard spacers then remember you will need longer bolts to account for the spacer width. Most use 10mm spacers.
fiat use a 98 PCD (pitch circle diameter) so alloys listed with this PCD are a straight fit.
you can go to 100PCD using wobbly bolts/nuts.
tyre sizes vary to choice, offset etc. but the above you mentioned are fine. best thing to do it use a tyre calculator on the internet, or your local garage.
Let us know if this helps.

cheers for that mate, so if i use standard fiat 14's off say a punto what spacers would i need? and where/how much for the longer bolts?
i was just gonna go for sporting wheels but i figure if im gonna have to buy front spacers for them i may as well get 4 spacers and get some 14's on it, then drop it 40mm (i think that should make it 20mm lower than a sporting), it has brand new shocks so i think it would be a waste to fit a 60mm drop kit

do the longer bolts for around £30.00 can't quite remember, spacer sets the wheel away from the hub, so that the wheel sits correctly and clears the brake calipers and does not catch on suspension components.
So you will prob need the 5mm or 10mm spacer. It all depends on the ET of the wheel Paul. The higher the ET, the closer to the centre line of the car the wheel will be. You fit spacers to reduce the effective ET. The ET should be somewhere on the wheel.
Most tend to use the 10mm spacer. But you really need to find out the ET of the wheel to get the right spacer size.
So best to get your wheels then see how many mm they are out and then get your spacers. more accurate and no waste of money if you get the wrong ones.

theres a tyre calulator for you mate i use that alot when picking tyres. if it was me i would just buy the wheels you want if there standard punto ones the offset won't be stupid most likely arround et33-34 and wouldn't get very wide ones. Then test fit them and see what clearance you have on the front for the brakes ect . Then get some spacers you can get a decent set from ebay for not crazy money that bolt to your hub and you use your existing bolts. i can't see you needing much tbh 5-10mm maybe 15 at a push. also for tyres i would be tempted to go for 185 45 14 (14s looks soo good with 45s on), and lower the car more than 40mm but thats just me

Cheers stu
, i would agree with the lowering and tyre size normally, problem is i need to keep it practical mate as i have a baby and we have alot of speed humps
and pot holes
in clacton, so if i use 45's my rims would last all of 10 seconds and if i drop it to low it will be a bit of a stiff ride for baby owen
sucks to be me, i origanally wanted it on 14's with 45's and dropped 60mm but car JUST had new shocks so dont really wanna change em lol
also cheers halfpint for all the help mate

thats what i thought 30mm best or 40mm at the most, dont suppose you can point me in the right direction for a cheap set? new or secondhand as on a budget. still cant decide if i should put 14's on or sporting wheels in graphite grey as think they may look good with that colour green, would show you pics but for some reason they wont show on this forum nor will the smileys

sweet get some pics of that up if you can mate. yea shes on standard steelies with 80 profile tyres so that the only role the car has should handle better when i get one of my sets of alloys on, shes coming off the road for a makeover soon and will be lower
. best thing for pics is get a photobucket account and upload the pics you want to put up on here or other forums and use the IMG code and post that into your replys
