Hi all, Im having a misfire or about a second of lag where the engine 'pops' when I open the throttle quickly. I have cleaned the throttle housing and the butterfly valve and the TDC sensor on the flywheel. I have a new coil pack on order as one was replaced just before i bought the car, finally i am putting in a new set of plugs this weekend.
Assuming none of this solves the problem can you guys give me a list of ideas of other things i can check...

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

We had a misfire issue with halfpint's Sei. Turned out the HT lead was arcing thru to the coil pack holder!! You could see were is was arcing out which in turn caused a misfire. New plugs and leads (routed correctly) sorted the problem.
With the bonnet up can you tell which cylinder has the misfire? If so swap over the coil pack packs to see if the misfire moves. If so I would say its the coil pack.
As for new pads and shocks; Easy job mate. But if Charlie is giving you a hand you will be fine. I'm sure he could could do it in the dark with one hand behind his back  ..

Hi all thanks again for all your help and advice, I have tried a number of the things you have all mentioned (at least the easy ones!!)

Ok so an update...

The car ticks over fine when the engin is cold, when it gets hot tick over drops down to about 300 - 400 RPM. This is so low the on occasion the oil light will flash (I'm guessing that this is a pressure warning!) if I tap the throttle it picks up a little. As you can imagine when coming off the motorway or approaching a roundabout when you put your foot onnthe clutch and the revs drop from 2-3k down so low sometimes the engine will stall.

I have reset the ECU and this did not help!!

I have done some research online and some people have had similar problems with othe fiat engines and the have tracked it down to a badly fitted cam belt (one tooth out or so) so my questions are....

1. Could it be this on my car?
2. How can I check to ensure that the cam etc is all lined up correctly?
3. Is there an auto adjuster or can timing be adjusted slightly manually?
4. Should I go for the quick fix of tightening the throttle cable a little to bring the tick over up both when cold and when hot?

Cheers for all your help in advance!!!

If I were you i would whip off the cam belt cover and rocker cover and double check the timing belt marks
