Posted under cinq but the sei is the same!!
Ok Khris has had an oil leak  Its gearbox oil, in fact the box was nearly empty
Question is; The inner CV boot. This has a tripod CV joint. Would I be correct is saying that when the gearbox is FULL if the inner CV boot is damaged then oil can freely come out of the gatter? I cant see any form of seal when the drive shaft is removed!!!!!
Car is up on jacks at the mo. I have fresh gearbox oil and a new CV inner boot to go on.
How come the gearbox oil is allowed to sit inside the gatter? I thought all cv joints were packed with CV grease in the boot??
I'm fitting the new boot tomorrow morning so please help if you can

Non Sporting Cinqs and Seis (even some 1108 Seis) had this arrangement. It's truly horrible. You need absolutely a new inner CV gaiter whenever you need to remove the driveshaft.

On these cars, checking the gearbox oil level on a weekly basis is pretty much essential.

We CV boot fitted now. Fairly easy job at the end of the day but what a stupid idea!!! I think our son had been running around with no (or VERY little) gearbox oil
He just sent me a text saying 'Dad the gear change is nice and smooth now'.. I  texted him back saying 'Thats becasue you now have oil in your gearbox son'
Got a back-log at work now after doing this so its head down tomorrow and crack on with a bit stripping
